Sundrops is a 100% cold-pressed, chemical-free sunflower oil produced by Kilovoo Trading Company in Kitui County, Kenya. The oil is extracted locally from sunflower seeds grown by smallholder farmers across the region.
Unlike refined oils, Sundrops is cold-pressed — no heat, no chemicals, and no additives. This preserves the oil’s natural nutrients, vitamin E, and flavor. Every bottle supports a local farmer and a sustainable rural economy.
Our oil is pressed, filtered, and bottled in Mutune Ward, Kitui County, Kenya, by a growing network of more than 600 local farmers working under Kilovoo Trading Company.
Sundrops is available directly from our Kitui facility and select retail outlets. We are in the process of listing with major supermarkets. For now, orders can be placed via our WhatsApp link on the website.
Currently, Sundrops is sold in 500ml, 1 L, 2 L, 3 L, and 5 L bottles as well as 20 L jerrycans . Institutional and bulk packaging can be arranged upon request.
We welcome partnerships with supermarkets, wholesalers, and local outlets interested in stocking a locally made, pure cooking oil. Retailers can contact our sales team through the website or WhatsApp to discuss supply arrangements.
Sundrops directly supports the government’s initiative to promote local cooking oil production by sourcing sunflower seeds from Kitui, Makueni, and neighboring counties. We also collaborate with KARLO (Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization) on improved seed distribution and farmer training.
Over 600 farmers now grow sunflower under the Sundrops program, collectively covering about 1,000 acres. Farmers are paid cash on delivery, ensuring instant income. This model has restored confidence in farming and reduced dependency on unpredictable maize crops.
Beyond oil processing, we’ve invested in boreholes fitted with smart meters, supplying affordable water to over 180 households. Our aim is to make farming communities more resilient and self-sustaining through technology and resource management.
We welcome partnerships that expand farmer training, seed access, renewable energy use in production, and logistics for rural collection. We are open to grants and collaborations that strengthen community resilience and women’s participation in agribusiness.
Kilovoo Trading Company adheres to KEBS certification standards. Our payment model and traceability system ensure each farmer and buyer can track product movement and payments transparently.
Partnerships and donor inquiries can be sent via the website’s contact form or directly through email/WhatsApp. We also welcome on-site visits to our Kitui facility to see our processing unit and meet the farmers behind the project.
